Shared lives of humans and wildlife in Maremma
The research is aimed at investigating the cohabitation of humans and wild animals in Maremma. The region is an important ecosystem in the Mediterranean panorama, due to its great biodiversity, relative anthropic action, and the presence of wide areas in which wild species are still free. In Maremma several animals shared the space with people, producing a great variety of relational models. Moreover, the presence of a significant number of environmental and animal conservation programs in the area makes this relational scenery even more complex and multifaced. The project aims at involving, starting from an in-depth ethnographic enquiry, local population toward a general reflection on shared lives of humans and animals in the region, a valorisation of local knowledge practices on wildlife management, and an elaboration of efficient environmental and animal conservation strategies.
